Workload

I titled this week "workload" because I feel like all of us have a very heavy workload. When I say our workload is "heavy" I mean we feel that. We feel that "to-do" list weighing on us, pulling us down and back, slowing us up and stressing us out. We feel it, physically, mentally, and spiritually.

In Matthew 11:28, Jesus promises us that if we will come to him when we are heavy and burdened, He will give us rest. God does not give us heavy burdens, He promises us rest.

Now, that doe not mean we will not have to work. There is effort involved, we participate in our walk. Sometimes we get stretched, often times more than we anticipated. However, in the midst of our work, Jesus will give us rest IF we come to Him instead of trying to take it all on on our own.

If we recognize not just WHAT we are doing, but WHO we are doing it for, we will be able to find that balance of work and rest. If we are working to please men and gain the approval of our peers, and seek validation from others, even the best intentions will leave us tired and heavy burdened. Human masters will never give us rest. If we are able to shift that mindset to working for Christ instead, in Him He promises we will find the rest we so desperately need.

See, God will not over burden you. He expects only your best, which He knows because He designed you. If you will give your weights to Him, you will find that while the "to-do" list might not shrink, the pressure and the weight will.

Matthew 11:28 "Come to me all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."

Luke 10:41 "Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things" Colossians 3:23

"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters."
